iThe lodge

We built Alder & Peak for the hour after the lifts close, when the valley turns blue, the cloud settles in below you and someone has already lit the fire.

The Halloran family ran sheep on this ridge in 1937 and built a log camp to winter in. Kit and Anders Halloran rebuilt it in 2019 with the same lodgepole logs, a great room of glass that faces the Tetons, and a wine cellar cut straight into the rock.

There is no road in winter. A heated snowcat brings you the last 3.2 miles from the Alder Creek trailhead, and after that the loudest thing on the mountain is the stove.
