02The collection
We make few things and keep making them. Every piece uses the same three woods, the same oil and the same joints, so they sit together in a room the way they sit together here.
A 40 mm oak top on four tapered legs, the boards matched by hand so the grain runs end to end. Seats eight, or six with elbows.
200 × 95 × 75 cm · also 240 cm · oak or walnut
A turned birch stem under a hand-pleated linen shade. It dims with a quarter turn of the walnut collar.
Ø 46 × 158 cm · warm 2700 K bulb included
Five solid shelves, through-tenoned into the sides so every joint shows on the outside. Holds 160 books without a sag.
92 × 32 × 128 cm · birch, oak or walnut
The chair at the top of the page, here in walnut and forest wool. Three woods and three wools make nine chairs, all built to order.

03Materials
One species per piece, and never a cheaper wood hidden underneath. Every board is air-dried before it meets a saw, and every surface is oiled rather than lacquered, so a scratch sands out in ten minutes.
Småland, Sweden
Pale, fine and quietly lustrous. It warms to the colour of honey over its first ten years.
Southern Jutland, Denmark
Our everyday wood. Open grain, silver ray fleck, and strong enough to outlast the house it lives in.
Pennsylvania, USA
The only wood we import, by sea. Dark chocolate heartwood with streaks of cream, and nothing else quite like it.
Gotland sheep, woven in Herning
Undyed grey, a soft sand bouclé and a green dyed with birch leaves and indigo. Tested to 90,000 rubs, about thirty years of evenings.
04How it's made
Eleven people in a converted dairy in Køge, forty minutes south of Copenhagen. Each piece is made start to finish by one of them.
Every board air-dries for at least fourteen months in the barn behind the workshop, so it has finished moving before we cut it.
Frames are joined the old way: a tenon glued into a mortise and pulled tight with an oak peg. There is no metal in a Lund frame, so nothing works loose.
The back rail spends forty minutes in the steam box, then a week clamped to a form until it holds the curve on its own.
Three coats, rubbed in by hand with wool pads. A care kit comes with every piece. Re-oil once a year, with the evening news on.
Every piece is signed by the person who made it. Mette signs hers with a small fox.
