-
Low WaterMaré Baixa · personal work
Beaches out of season, from Nazaré to the Azores. Fog, empty kiosks, a sailboat nobody is waiting for. I go in January and February, when the coast belongs to the people who live there.

-
Wind PortraitsRetratos com vento · editorial
Portraits made outdoors on the coast, for magazines and for people who simply asked. Hair everywhere, coats doing what they like. Nobody has ever complained about the wind once they saw the contact sheet.

-
Two, by the SeaCasamentos · weddings & elopements
Weddings near water, from Ericeira to Comporta. I stay quiet, shoot film while the light is soft and switch to digital when the dancing starts. You get the whole day, and the ten minutes after it that nobody else saw.

About
I wait for the moment people forget the camera. On the coast that takes about twenty minutes and one good gust of wind.
I was born in Porto in 1989, a ten-minute walk from Matosinhos beach, which explains most of this website.
I studied photography in Lisbon, spent four years assisting portrait photographers, and have worked on my own since 2015. Most of my year is weddings between May and October, and portraits and magazine work the rest of the time.
Colour film goes to a small lab in Alcântara. Black and white I still develop myself, in a darkroom in Marvila I share with two printmakers and a cat called Agfa.
