01 How it works
Community solar lets a whole county share one big array. You keep your utility, your meter and your account. We just make the bill smaller.
We lease 15 to 40 acres of hard-to-farm ground within a mile of a substation in your county: old gravel pits, dry corners, a capped landfill in Pueblo. Then we plant about 10,000 panels, a sheep fence and a pollinator meadow.
A typical garden is 5 MW, enough for about 950 homes.
We size your share to your last 12 months of bills, usually 4 to 8 kilowatts. Joining is free. There's no credit check for income-qualified households, and you can leave with 60 days' notice.
Renters, condo owners, churches and corner shops all qualify.
The garden's power flows into the grid and your utility puts credits on your bill. We charge 90¢ for each $1 of credit. The other 10¢ is yours, every month, for as long as you subscribe.
Same utility, same meter, same lights. Smaller number.
Available to customers of participating utilities in six states. Your address decides which garden you join.

An estimate, not a quote. Assumes credits cover the energy part of your bill (about 85%); fixed charges stay with your utility. Credits follow the sun, so summer months carry more.

“I rent a second-floor apartment on 28th Street. I don't own a roof. I have a solar garden anyway.”
05 For landowners
Got flat, open ground near a power line? We lease it, build on it, insure it and take it all back out when we're done. Sheep keep grazing. You keep the land.

“The sheep keep the grass down, the lease check comes every January, and I still get to call it the farm.”

No. If you pay an electric bill to a participating utility in one of our six states, you can subscribe. About half of our subscribers rent.
Nothing. No sign-up fee, no equipment, no install visit. You get one monthly invoice from us, and it's always smaller than the credits we put on your utility bill.
Your credits follow the sun, so they're bigger in June than in December. Most utilities bank extra summer credits and spend them in winter, so your savings even out across the year.
Move within the same utility territory and your share moves with you. Move away and you can cancel with 60 days' notice, no fee. Someone on the waitlist takes your slice.
Yes, it's in your contract: you pay 90¢ for every $1 of credit you receive. If a garden produces less one month, you're billed less that month.
Our own crew of 14, based in Longmont, Albuquerque, Northfield and Kingston, plus local graziers whose sheep keep the grass trimmed. We own, insure and maintain every panel.
About 38% of every garden is set aside for households enrolled in LEAP, SNAP or similar programs. Those shares save 25% instead of 10%, with no credit check and no deposit.
